One of the best kept secrets of being a Pomona student is the power of the 5Cs. Sure, you enrolled at Pomona, but you instantly gained access to four other colleges right next door, each with their own clubs, events, and communities. And the best part? The majority of clubs across the 5Cs are open to all students, no matter which campus you call home.
This semester, me and my friends hung out with CMC’s Black Student Association for a fun group trip to Knott’s Berry Farm, and it was an absolute blast. Members got free tickets, meal passes, and drink passes, making it a full day out without spending a single dollar. That’s the kind of perk that comes from being plugged into your campus community and taking advantage of what the 5Cs have to offer. Knott’s Berry Farm is no small outing. Located in Buena Park, it’s one of Southern California’s classic amusement parks, packed with thrilling rides, great food, and the kind of energy that makes you forget you have a midterm coming up. Going with a group of fellow Pomona and CMC students made it even better. There’s something about screaming on a roller coaster next to people from your own community that just hits different.
This is exactly what the 5C experience is all about. With so many clubs spread across five campuses, and most of them welcoming students from any of the colleges, your social life is only as limited as your willingness to get involved. You could find yourself at a cultural event at Pomona, a speaker series at Harvey Mudd, or a free trip to an amusement park with CMC. The opportunities are endless and often come with perks you would never expect. So if you’re a Pomona student sleeping on your 5C connections, wake up. Your next adventure is out there waiting.
