One thing I absolutely LOVE about Claremont and the surrounding areas is the beautiful weather and even more beautiful views. There’s something about this campus that feels peaceful and refreshing, like every corner is waiting to surprise you with a small moment of joy. The sunshine, the mountains in the distance, the trees lining the walkways, and the quiet benches tucked between buildings all make Pomona a place where you can relax and enjoy your surroundings.
Some days, the hardest part is simply leaving my warm, comfortable bed in the morning. When I am tired or busy, it’s easy to stay inside and rush through the day without noticing anything around me. But I’ve learned that once I step outside and actually explore, it’s always worth it. Even a short walk to class can turn into something special. I want to introduce some of the most peaceful areas to explore and experience in the Claremont area.
One day, I decided to visit the Claremont Trail, a five-mile loop that’s perfect for beginners and an easy, relaxing hike. It felt like the kind of trail you can take your time on without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. The walk wasn’t too steep I would recommend especially for the view!
This is the Marston Quad, the main grassy area on Pomona’s campus. Students spread out blankets, relax, play games, and catch up with friends here. The quad is especially magical during sunset. What makes it even more special is that it’s right on campus. You don’t have to go far, just a two-minute walk from your dorm, and this is the view that greets you.
I think it’s really important to venture out and explore what’s around you. I know a warm bed can be tempting, but the excitement and joy that come from experiencing a new environment or taking in a beautiful view make it completely worth it.
Another beautiful spot is Etiwanda Falls. It’s a bit farther from Claremont, but it’s definitely worth the trip. The hike leads you to stunning views along the way, and at the end, you’re greeted by a gorgeous waterfall. It’s the perfect place to escape campus for a while, take in nature, and just enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
