With this being my second summer here in California, my goal has been to have a Starstruck summer (like in the movie). It still hasn’t happened yet, but I’m getting there lol.
At the end of May, I went to Newport Beach for a hangout, and it was a lot of fun. The day began with an amazing smoothie from Juice It Up. Then came a long drive all the way to Orange County, with Champagne Coast by Blood Orange, Olivia Rodrigo and some Disney throwbacks, of course, playing in the background. It felt almost like something out of a movie.
For the first time in a while, I laid on the sand and my world went quiet. As the sun kissed my skin and the warmth chased away the chill of the ocean, I felt at peace. It was a busy day at the beach, but it still felt so quiet. I could hear the distant crash of waves and laughter echoing down the coast, yet it all melted into background music for my thoughts.
I keep the memory of that day and those feelings as a center—a reminder that there are moments of peace.
This summer has been about finding that peace and soaking up the sun. I’ve been crocheting, crafting with clay, and vibing to my favorite tunes. I’ve also taken more walks, explored new cafes around Claremont, and learned how to just be. Being at Pomona has given me a new place to explore and new adventures to encounter—some planned, some spontaneous.
No Starstruck moment just yet, but I think I’m living a movie of my own.
